Murdoch takes over Latvian TV5

The international concern News Corporation (News Corp) owned by Australian-American media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has signed a deal on acquiring Latvia's television company TV5, according to an announcement by News Corp. The company's announcement states that this deal consolidates the assets of News Corp. Europe in Latvia, which now owns 100% of two television companies: LNT and TV5.

As reported, in May last year, News Corp's European subsidiary News Corp. Europe acquired Latvia's television company LNT and 70% interest in TV5.

This month, News Corp. Europe bought the remaining 30% of TV5 shares, which were owned by company Belokon News, controlled by banker and co-owner of the England's football club Blackpool, Valery Belokon.

The sum of the deal is not being revealed.

The company's announcement states that this deal consolidates the assets of News Corp. Europe in Latvia, which now owns 100 percent of two television companies: LNT and TV5.

News Corporation is an international company, operating in several sectors: films, television, cable television, magazines, newspapers, book publishing etc. The company operates in the United States, Europe, United Kingdom, Australia, Asia and the Pacific Ocean region.
